Lucian Matis FW2011 X the Design Exchange
Held at the Design Exchange by power event planners Candice & Alison, Lucian Matis’ Fall winter show was a collection that had jaws drop from start to end. Talk about bedazzled, everything from panties, to gowns, to blazers were drenched in oversized crystals, and the knits were of a type of Sonia Rykiel Caliber. Yummy is the first word that comes to mind when describing the collection, with its blend of fringes, heavy chunky knitwear, lots of taffeta, and even some bodysuits thrown into the mix. This show proved that Lucian Matis truly is a visionary and quite possibly has surpassed the Canadian Talent surrounding him (at least in my opinion anyway).
The crowd which included notable Torontonians such as Ainsley Kerr, and Editor in Chief of FLARE Lisa Tant was dressed to impressed with everything from sky high heels, to pink Lanvin in the room, and with touch ups provided for everyone by SMASHBOX cosmetics there was not a hair out of place, or a cheek not blushed. Nibbles were offered by Daniel et Daniel, and of course for me the Peroni kept flowing for the evening.
Several pieces were truly beautiful in this collection but to understand the overall vibe of the show enjoy the video I took from my seat in the front row and for where to buy some of these delectable looks visit www.lucianmatis.com for full details, and preview past collections.
TORONTO TIP: Models hair was done by stylists of SOLO BACE, and you can get your red Carpet hair done at SOLO BACE located at 860 Yonge St (near Yonge/Bloor) haircuts for women range from $57-120 and they are truly masters of their craft. www.solobace.com
