As a salute to the arrival of spring and the outdoor barbecue/entertaining season, Zoltan Szabo has provided us with not one, but three outstanding wines for this weeks #WineWednesday.

2012 Beaujolais – Villages ‘Fleurie’ Villa Ponciago

Burgundy, France

There’s something angelic about a good Beaujolais; and this is really good; comes from a beautiful estate in the heart of the cru Fleurie. floral, exotic, spicy, hubba bubba accents, light and gracious, simply delicious; try with duck sausages, pan fried chicken liver, or on its own and slightly chilled; available woodmanwinesandspirits.com

2012 Cabernet Franc rosé ‘triomphe’ Southbrook

Niagara Peninsula, Canada

Think of raspberries, blood orange, roses and pink peppercorn when nosing this lovely and vivid pink; medium – weight and tasty with a luscious texture; 7 grams per liter residual sugar in it, but consider it dry; pairs with mildly spiced tuna tacos and loud pop music; certified organic; available @lcbo, or visit the winery southbrook.com

2010 Riesling ‘Réserve’ Trimbach

From an Alsace powerhouse producer, this Riesling is lean, dry and savoury, greengage apple – flavoured and mineral, finishes with a quince, bee’s wax and spicy note; needs food, try with cabbage – based stews, charcuterie, or soft – ripened artisanal cheeses; available @lcbo Vintages
