#WineWednesday – 2006 Vidal Icewine

This wintery elixir was undoubtedly one of my favourites tasted throughout the recent Icewine Festival gala and weekend; rich and luscious with its sweetness remarkably well balanced by firm acidity; smells and tastes like orange – kumquat – quince marmalade with underlying notes of green tea leaf and dried chamomile flower; the long – lasting finish is savoury and on the dry note, reminding me of an orange Muscat I have tasted not long ago; exotic, surely; and wait, its regular price is $39.95, but currently on sale for an amazing deal of only $17.95 (until the only few cases of supply left lasts); available from the winery in Beamsville; a beautiful accompaniment with foie gras – foie gras terrine, or fruit flans, on its own, or a splash of it added to your sparkling wine and vodka respectively.
