Hey, Listen! Check This Lady Out: Hatley

By on May 15, 2014

If you’ve ever been wondering what it would sound like if you mixed the beachy sounds of Jack Johnson and the cute indie sounds of The Moldy Peaches, look no further! Hatley is a pop/rock singer from Toronto who gracefully combines a variety of genres seamlessly to produce her own creative sound. This is the sort of music you’d blast in your car all summer and will make you feel like you’re in a Zooey Deschanel movie. I’m a huge advocate of female musicians who can hold their own in the industry, and Hatley certainly carves her own space within the music world.

Her EP Songs I Wrote While I Hated My Life at Concordia University is beyond adorable and accessible, and is straight up feel-good music. My favourite track (if I had to choose) would be ‘You Told Me’, but I can honestly say I’m a fan of this album from top to bottom. Oh, and she happens to write all of her own music and lyrics. Talk about a powerhouse! Keep an eye out for her second EP, currently in production. This chick rocks!
