Gorgeous Eggplant Eyes

By on April 15, 2014

Want to try a new look, but aren’t exactly sure how far you want to venture out of your comfort zone? Might I suggest a trend I’m loving: eggplant eyes! There are a number of ways to wear this provocative look, so depending on how daring you feel there’s definitely a style you’ll love.

Super Tame

Maybe we can’t all look like Scarlet Johansson, but at least we can copy her eye makeup! Her tame take on this luxurious colour is the most accessible way to test this trend out. Using a more dialed down tone of eggplant purple, keep the eye shadow close to the lash line, venturing to the lower lash line for a more dramatic look. Blend in a shimmery gold to add extra interest in a subtle way.

Amped Up

Rooney Mara shows us how to accentuate the look and make it a little more dramatic. The key is precision: if you leave the eye shadow messy, you may look like you have two black eyes, and if you have a lighter skin tone any mistakes will be super obvious. Avoid this by using the old scotch tape trick! Place pieces of scotch tape diagonally along the edges of your eyes upward, which will become your guide to a flawless eggplant cat eye.

Runway Inspired

The most dramatic way to wear this look of course comes straight off the runway. Taking the shadow all the way around the eye and extended outward for a cat eye look is an ultra high fashion look, so make sure you’re comfortable with the colour before giving it a try. Again, precision is key: if mistakes are obvious, the look will come across as sloppy. Add some lash inserts for a really dramatic effect!
