As a big movie fan, I’m always looking for different ways to enjoy the movies with my friends. We’ve already talked about cheap and unique theatres throughout the city, but now I want to talk about theatres that give you the VIP treatment! I don’t know about you guys, but I love being pampered even if it’s just to go and see a movie. Today we’re going to look at specialty screenings for movies in the city, as well as experiencing VIP cinemas!

Specialty screenings are when people watch films before anyone else gets the chance to. If you’re one of the lucky ones to attend these events then I am super jealous. These experiences will typically happen for big movies that come out with a large following expectancy. For example, the Divergent film had a specialty screening for it held at the Scotia Bank Theatre on Wednesday March 5th. Cineplex also allows for Private Screenings of films which lets you skip the crowd entirely and have a theatre room all to yourself! Say goodbye to crying children or that annoying couple kicking the back of your chair. Instead, you can openly chat to your friends and experience the big screen as though you were in the comfort of your own home. Imagine? Talk about VIP. With films such as Spider-Man and the highly anticipated X-Men Days of Future Past movie there will be many line-ups for the specialty screenings experience. There are many other forms of specialty and VIP experiences with Cineplex as well. Another is with their VIP Cinemas, so let’s take a look at what they have to offer.

VIP Cinemas offer an exclusive adult lounge to drink and socialize; it is a place where you can comfortably watch your film! No more lining up for opening night which are usually hours ahead of time, no more sneaking in snacks or buying overly priced popcorn, and defiantly no more cramp chairs for your legs. I invite you to stretch out and have a glass of wine while watching the hottest new movies!

Our VIP Cinema in the city is located at the Cineplex Odeon at 1025 Queensway. This cinema offers a lounge, completely licensed and stock with alcohol such as wines, beers, or specialty drinks. You have the ability to reserve your seats way in advance, allowing you to show up minutes before the movie begins! I love that aspect, because if I want to see a movie opening night, I hate having to line up outside of the doors and deal with a huge obnoxious crowd of people. And not only are the seats reserved, but they are extremely comfortable and spacious, allowing you to lean back and stretch out!

Hungry? Looking for more? Well not to worry because these VIP cinemas come well equip with a specialty food menu! Like in a restaurant you can order what you would like to eat right before the trailers come on! Menus include meals such as salads, fries and burgers, wraps, as well as cupcakes! And you can enjoy your meal right in your seat, as each is equip with a table right next to it!

Have I sold you yet? Are you ready to reserve your movie, because I know I am! Prices will typically land at $12.99, excluding half price Tuesdays and 3D films. Not only is this experience awesome, but if you have a scene points card then purchasing a ticket gives you 3x more the points!

So there you have it, just a couple ways to pamper yourself when going to the movies! Specialty screenings are an entirely different and exclusive way to experience films, whether you’re attending the screening of a newly released film or you are booking your own private or VIP theater, the result is the same; you are in control. So go out there and treat yourself, and as always, I’ll see you there!
